Hello, my name is Marcus. Thanks for taking the time to look at our
adoption page. I would like to take a moment and tell you a little about me.
I was born and raised in Minnesota in more of a farming community
south of the cities on a seven acre hobby farm.
As a kid I was always outdoors playing in the yard and having adventures
with my brother. As soon as I was able
to reach the petals I was driving tractors and mowing the lawn and yes we mowed
all seven acres. I also enjoyed riding dirt
bikes and driving my go-kart around the yard. Funny thing about our childhood
go kart is it was actually a 78 Chevy Chevette. Those of you who don’t know
what a Chevette is, it is a small car about the size of a geo metro. The cool
thing about it is we used it to wait at the end of our long driveway for the
school bus and pull the trashcans up and down with it. This offered year round
fun with heat and a radio. It was a stick so it was always popular with my
friends who I taught how to drive a manual. Some of the other things I enjoyed
as a kid was lego’s(technic), radio control cars and playing with my toy
tractors. I have always had a passion for building and fixing things.
Me and my folks
My Brother Ben and I
I am
fortunate enough to have a dad who is a mechanical engineer. So from a very
early age I was exposed and taught many mechanical/electrical skills. My dad
also had a passion for cars so I was always in garage helping and learning that
from a very young age.
My dad's old tractor, which I've been driving since I was a kid
It wasn’t until high school that I was able
to develop some of my passions in various shop classes learning the different
styles of welding/machining and building large projects. I also participated in
afterschool competitions in a 3M technology challenge building an automated
machine to perform a task and a high mileage competition where we had to build
a one man car to achieve the highest fuel economy possible. I continued that
passion in college and got my Associate’s Degree in automated machinery systems.
This encompasses hydraulics, pneumatics and controls. I work in the sewer and water pipe industry as a warehouse supervisor and fusion specialist (I melt together large pieces of pipe). My job is very stable and offers good wages and benefits.
Work!
Music is also another passion of
mine that I have had all my life. I enjoy listening to a wide variety of music
and playing my acoustic and electric guitars. I have a few friends and
relatives that also play different instruments so we get together once in a
while and play mostly classic rock.
Me and my electric Ibanez
I have worked very hard and am fortunate to
have an almost a full shop in my garage including all types of tools, welders,
air compressor and a car hoist. I also
have a good amount of music equipment and other hobby gear.
My Camaro, my pride and joy
I like to get my hands dirty
I am excited to
have the opportunity to pass these skills and passions to our child and have
those experiences of seeing them learn and see the joy on their faces when they
accomplish things and develop their own passions. I will be so grateful to the birth family for allowing Em and I to adopt their child so I can experience these things with my kids. Without them, it wouldn't happen.
